Manvantara is the time by which the Universe is living and developing.

Manvantara is an old Sanskrit word known to many followers of the Indo-Aryan teachings. In these teachings, the manvantara denotes the time by which the Universe is living and developing. As you know, the ancient Indo-Aryan peoples considered the Universe only the body of a great spirit, which they called Brahma. They considered themselves manifest particles, through which it cognizes itself in an endless process of self-improvement.

In the Indo-Aryan culture there are still such concepts as exhalation and inhalation of Brahma. One such exhalation, called as a Day of Brahma, is equal to 24 billion years, and one such inhalation, called as a Night of Brahma, is also equal to 24 billion years. Manvantara includes both the exhalation and the inhalation of Brahma, and is equal to 48 billion years. An inhalation follows an exhalation, and an exhalation follows an inhalation – in this way the Universe pulses to infinity. Speaking in simple and clear language, the manvantara is the time period over which the Universe passes one circle of its infinite self-improvement.

But that’s not all! Transferring these ancient Indo-Aryan concepts to the field of research of modern science, we can draw interesting conclusions. According to the cosmological model of the Universe emergence, our Universe appeared as a result of the big bang about 14 billion years ago from the state of singularity that preceded the big bang. Having emerged, the Universe began to expand and cool. However, one of the possible scenarios for the future of the Universe is “a big crunch”. According to the same name theory, the Universe can collapse into the state of singularity from which it emerged. Modern studies have shown that this can happen within 10-15 billion years.

So, it is safe to assume that the process of the onset of the Day of Brahma is nothing but a big bang, and the Night of Brahma is the so-called state of singularity. Moreover, the Day of Brahma began a little more than 12 billion years ago; therefore, the Night of Brahma will be in about 12 billion years. It is also known that our Universe now lives its 33rd manvantara. In addition, there is a scientific theory of the pulsating Universe, which is close in meaning to the ancient Indo-Aryan vision of the space. This is how modern science can speak in unison with ancient teachings!

Hopefully, we have clearly explained the meaning of the Indo-Aryan concept of manvantara.  Follow our articles on Chameleon Guru.
